About Me
A different way of understanding yourself.
I’m Chrissy — a Registered Nurse turned relational therapist, and the founder of The Emotional Intelligence Nurse. I help people understand the emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and nervous-system responses that shape how they experience themselves and the people around them.
My work sits at the intersection of emotional intelligence, trauma-informed counselling, relational therapy, and nervous system awareness.
I’m particularly interested in what happens beneath the surface of our emotions — the patterns we develop to stay safe, the ways we learn to relate to others, and what happens when those strategies no longer serve us.
You may find yourself here because you feel emotionally overwhelmed, exhausted from caring for everyone else, stuck in the same relationship patterns, struggling with boundaries, or disconnected from who you used to be.
Maybe you understand yourself intellectually but still find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand. Maybe you’re navigating grief, trauma, a major life transition, or a relationship that has challenged the way you see yourself. Or maybe nothing feels particularly “wrong” — you simply know there is a deeper way of understanding yourself and your life. That is where therapy can begin.
Therapy that looks beneath the pattern.
My approach is grounded in the belief that your emotions are not problems to eliminate. They are information.
Together, we can explore:
-
the thoughts
-
emotions
-
body sensations
-
behaviours
-
relationship patterns that make up your experience(s)
As a Registered Nurse and master’s-level counsellor, I bring together the biology with the depth, curiosity and compassion of relational therapy. My work draws from trauma-informed care, emotional intelligence, attachment-informed approaches, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and relational therapy.
This means therapy is not about telling you who you should be.
It is about helping you develop the awareness and self-trust to understand why you are the way you are, how your patterns developed, and what becomes possible when you no longer have to live from them automatically.
I work with people navigating:
-
Emotional overwhelm and difficulty regulating emotions
-
Relationship challenges and recurring relational patterns
-
Attachment wounds and relational trauma
-
People-pleasing, over-functioning, and difficulty setting boundaries
-
Grief, loss, and significant life transitions
-
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
-
High sensitivity and emotional attunement
-
Identity shifts and feeling disconnected from yourself
-
Family and generational patterns
-
Difficulty expressing needs, emotions, or boundaries
-
The tension between caring deeply for others and losing yourself in the process
My work may be especially meaningful for highly sensitive, empathic, emotionally attuned people who have spent years learning how to read everyone else but are ready to understand themselves more deeply.
You don't need to become less sensitive.
You may need to feel safer being fully yourself.
A space to understand, not fix, yourself
I don't believe you need to be fixed. I believe there are often very good reasons for the ways you learned to cope, connect, protect yourself, and survive. Therapy gives us an opportunity to become curious about those patterns rather than judging them. Together, we can slow things down enough to notice what is happening beneath the reaction — and create space for something different.
You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.
You don't need the perfect words.
You simply need to be willing to get curious about yourself.
You can be both soft and strong.
You can care deeply without carrying everything.
You can understand others without abandoning yourself.
And you can learn to trust your own emotional wisdom.
If you're ready to explore your patterns, your relationships, and the parts of yourself that may have been asking for your attention, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you.
You don't have to navigate it all alone.
Working With Chrissy
I work with adults who feel too much, too little, or simply feel disconnected from what’s happening inside.
I also support people navigating relationship challenges — whether you tend to push people away, lose yourself in relationships, or feel unsure how to create the connection you truly want.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’m here to help you make sense of it.
