My Approach

At The Emotional Intelligence Nurse, my approach combines emotional intelligence, trauma-informed counselling, and relational therapy to help you understand your emotions, recognize patterns, and develop a stronger relationship with yourself and others. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we look at the patterns underneath them—how your emotions, nervous system, past experiences, beliefs, and relationships influence the way you move through the world.

Emotional Awareness & Regulation
Learn to understand and regulate difficult emotions, manage emotional overwhelm, and respond to what you’re feeling with greater awareness and choice.

Relationships, Attachment & Codependency
Understand unhealthy relationship patterns, attachment wounds, people-pleasing, codependency, boundaries, and difficulty trusting or expressing your needs.

Trauma & Childhood Experiences
Explore how past experiences and relational trauma may still influence your emotions, nervous system, sense of safety, and relationships today.

Emotional Patterns & Self-Awareness
Recognize the patterns that keep you stuck—including overthinking, emotional over-functioning, shutting down, avoiding conflict, or constantly monitoring other people’s emotions.

Self-Worth & Authenticity
Reconnect with who you are beneath the roles, expectations, and beliefs you’ve developed to feel accepted, safe, or worthy.
Emotional Expression & Communication
Develop greater confidence expressing your feelings, needs, boundaries, and truth while staying connected to yourself and others.

Grief & Loss
Receive compassionate support as you navigate grief, loss, major life transitions, and the emotional impact of experiences that have changed you.

Moving From Emotional Survival to Emotional Vitality

Together, we work toward greater emotional awareness, self-trust, healthier relationships, and the ability to live with more authenticity, connection, and emotional integrity. Common modalities I would use include CBT, DBT, Somatic therapy, IFS, Interpersonal, Person Centered, compassionate inquiry, psychoeducation and emotionally focussed.
